Merry Christmas! My present came early this year when I finished the home library built in bookshelf! I am so glad this project is finally complete… I’m super happy with how it turned out but I’m having a love-hate relationship with it right now because it is the most challenging project I have ever done. From start to finish, the cabinets, lighting, painting, hardware, and every other step of the way. Don’t look too closely, you’ll see tears and curse words hidden in the shelves.
Before:
I dream of libraries, big ones with old, amazing books and my kiddos happily reading books by my side… and I’ve always wanted a library in my house. Our front room was just bla, we didn’t use it, and it was a wasted space. Imagine my husband’s face when I announced I was going to build a home library with a floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelf. With lights. In the front room. I wish I had a picture of his reaction to post for y’all. And now that I actually did it I can not say this with enough joy and relief, I am so glad this is done! I’m so proud of it and it’s my favorite room in the house, but honestly, I earned it! It was hard!
From start to finish, with mothering & life in between, this project took a few months. In 2018 I’ll break down the individual parts of this post. Did I already say I’m glad this is over?! Here is the photo journey:
Before the built-ins we had FIVE jam packed bookshelves, now we’re down to one additional one for the kiddos. The only thing that would make this better is a secret passage way… a girl can dream!
One more after:
Happy Creating and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
These look amazing! I have some projects that will live in my head until I die. Congratulations for your tenacity and hard work. (You even painted on a smile!)
