BOO-YA! It.is.finally.done. Yes, the magic tree house is complete and let me tell you, it is well used and well loved. Most families try to find indoor activities for the winter, but in the desert it is so blazing hot we need indoor retreats in the summer. This tree house is the solution a gagillion times over!
For a full breakdown of the details of the tree house visit this post. Thanks so much for visiting!
Remember this? The epiphany to just jump in:
I stewed over the plans, mostly how to build it, enclose it, make it safe, and make it look, well, not ridiculous. One evening at a baseball game I drew this out on a paper:
And the idea seemed to take on steam. Here is what the room looked like before:
And here are a few pics of the tree house after:
Over the next few days I will post on separate parts of the house that were mini projects themselves like the platform, swing, rock climbing wall, shelves, slide… and maybe even link it up and cross my fingers really tight. Mostly, I hope this tree house pushes you over the edge to do that project in your house you have been wanting to do for oh so very long!
Happy Creating!
This is seriously brilliant!!! I’ll be voting!!!
Thanks Becca, we seriously spend hours of play in that thing!
How tall are your ceilings? I would love to do this in our basement, but I’m not sure if the ceilings would be tall enough. 🙂
Thank you for your question! We have 9 foot ceilings and the bottom of the loft portion measures 53 inches from the ground. I will be posting next week on all the dimensions, I hope that would be helpful! btw, I just checked out your website and I love it, so happy you stopped by!
Are you kidding me?! This is AMAZING!!! I am so thoroughly impressed; my kids are mostly too old for this now, but I’ll bet you they’ll still be jealous!!! I’ll vote for you too!
I am awestruck. SO fun!
All I can say is HARDWARE!!!

Sooo cool. Thanks so much for sharing your talent!
I am aghast. Thank you! It was a fun project and is so loved by the boys. I am constantly amazed by your posts and projects, I am so flattered you would think this was cool. Thank you!
Hi Sarah,
I work with Cassity over at Remodelaholic and we LOVE this! Such a great idea for hot summers or cold winters! I just emailed you about being featured, but my messages have been getting caught in spam filters lately so I wanted to drop you a line here to make sure that you got my email. Hope to hear from you soon!
Thanks! -Lorene
Thank you! The treehouse is the gift that keeps on giving!!!
Whats the name of the green paint u used in this project??
Hi Priscilla, I used “dried leaves” by Clark & Kensington Paint. You can read a little about the paint here http://iamhardware.com/tree-house-enclosure/. Thanks for the question, I’m glad you like the color!
This is awesome. I think my boys would love this. I don’t really have a good place that I want to attach it to my wall. I was hoping you may have a work around on how to make this a stand alone tree house. Maybe some how add 4×4 posts or something?
Hi Andy, This would work if you had a wall to attach the widest part of your tree house to (the 8′ side, NOT the 4′ side) If you have a wall like that let me know and I will send you some instructions. My boys looooooooooove it. One is reading up there as I type. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you for the ideas and reply. I might be able to make it attach to a wall. I was try to avoid that only because we would be putting it in our “formal living room” that is really just the toy room for the boys. I kind of thought I could make trees on all sides to make it enclosed and then put 4×4 Under each corner of the loft instead of attaching it into the wall. Do you think that would work for this?
