I would love to get an email from you! I’ll write back, cross my heart. sarah@iamhardware.com

Why the name Hardware?
My dad was an Idaho farm boy. He worked hard to get an education and a good job. Even though he learned a lot on the farm by the time I came around (fifth of eight girls!) he was busy and much preferred to hire a handyman to complete home maintenance than do it himself. My mother was even busier and didn’t want to try. One day I found a list my mom had for the handyman… I was 12. I convinced her to let me fix the stuff and pay me instead. Off I rode on my hot-pink 10-speed to our small town hardware store, Ace Ben Franklin. Some poor soul marched me around the store, explaining how to do everything and helping me find the tools. $65 earned and two days later a sister dubbed the nickname Hardware. People still march around hardware stores with me explaining and helping, and yes, people still call me Hardware.
Why I blog…
Years of trial and error have left me with lots of stories to tell and I think I can save everyone some error and just help with the trial part of diy. So after 36 months of pregnancy (not in a row of course) and 4+ years of nursing (don’t do the math on that) I have bottled-up ideas that are dripping from my now unhybernating brain. iamhardware is my Candyland, my creative outlet, and I’m so happy to be here! I feel sheepish putting all my projects online, but I’m just going to lay it all out there… this blog is for my sisters and friends to read up on the how to’s and my latest projects. And this is for my kiddos to see what I actually do when they are at school.
