About a week ago I started the first of many fun projects in my son's room, board and batten. Could I be a farmer?
It's amazing how much pride I feel when I see something that I planted start to grow. I'm not sure quite what the tribal feeling is, but it's almost as if I can't believe a seed + red dirt + water = plant, and I love it. We originally rented the farm land to have some yummy food and my husband wanted to teach our kids how to work. Like real old fashioned kind of work. Side Yard Complete!
Our side yard went from white trash to rock garden: Do you feel like calling me a rock star? (Hahaha, get it? ROCK star? Oh, I need a break.) With those pictures posted I can now say I will be perfectly content to not see another landscape rock or shovel for about a year. In the end I shoveled two tons of rocks (yep, 4,000 pounds!), planted two glorious trees, and threw away a lot of old wood and junk. It feels so good. Building a Backyard Fire Pit
Let me just say we have already cooked more than one tasty smores around this beauty: Our backyard isn't huge, but there is some space for hanging out and fun. My kids love campfires, so a fire pit was added to my 2014 project list and the kiddos early awaited. Weekend Project: Finish the Sideyard
We have lived in this home for 22 months and this side yard has been burning my eyes since day one. Simple Chair Redo in under an hour. No kidding.
This is a tale of two chairs. My winter-survival-yellow chair had a sister. After the yellow chair redo I had a few people ask, does it really take an hour!? So, this time I timed it. I followed the same steps as the yellow chair and the jury is in. It took 48 minutes, 2 seconds. A can of spray paint, some left over fabric from the parson chair slipcovers, and less than an hour and I have another side chair.
