I love to repurpose and upcycle furniture, décor. It’s the best bang for any buck and it’s crazy fun. My dad remodeled his office last summer and called three siblings and me that lived in town to say all the old décor was up for grabs… music to my thrifty ears. By the time I had children napped and fed I was off but by the time I got there one sister already had a small haul and laughed as I pulled up and shouted, “sorry, sucka!” Ah, crudola. I did still make out with a small score, despite the offset. The gem I used in this project was:
I didn’t really like the art inside (although it’s still in my garage hoping for inspiration), but upon first glance I was already formulating plans for the frame in my mind. A large, chunky, ugly frame… the possibilities are endless. What I really needed at the time was a place to keep all of the kids creations (thank goodness for stainless steel appliances that force us to cut out the clutter in the kitchen.) Off to Home Depot for white spray paint and a sheet of metal. Here is the result:
I later made some awesome magnets for the board, and it can also be seen in all it’s glory in my mother’s day tribute video. I had originally planned to hang it in the kitchen but decided to put it in the laundry room, it’s the first stop from the garage and a great dumping ground for projects and papers. Easy project for something we use everyday.
